Friday, May 31st is your final day to register as an individual or team for the upcoming 10th Mennonite Collegiate Institute (MCI) Golf Classic happening June 8th at Minnewasta Golf and Country Club.

MCI Director of Operations Kieran Reynolds joined CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner in studio for the first time to catch us up on what we needed to know about the fundraising golf tournament. But before that, Chris took the opportunity to have Reynolds introduce himself. Right out the gate, he's not originally from here, having grown up in Ireland.

"I came out here for university, and went to Providence College University, and met my wife there, who grew up in Gretna and is an alum of MCI, and that's been my connection MCI," he shared. "About twelve years ago we both moved back here, and I became a Dean at that time, working at MCI, and was there for about three years and then we moved away. We moved out to Vancouver to do some outdoor education for my wife and I. I got connected to another boarding school out there, an international boarding school."

Reynolds noted they always wanted to come back to Southern Manitoba, having a family and grandparents around was an important thing to them.

"We came back about three years ago, and since then I've been involved in MCI, either as a Director of Student Life, or where I'm at right now," he said. "We've kind of reshuffled our staffing, and right now I'm Director of Operations, so part of the leadership team there."

Back to the golf tournament, Reynolds noted this is a critical fundraiser for the school.

"It's an opportunity for us to engage our community in two different ways, which is exciting for us, and it's always been something that has allowed any high school student to have an education that's rooted in Anabaptist values," he shared. "This is a a great opportunity, from a fundraising perspective, to do that."

Last year the MCI Golf Classic raised $23,000, and Reynolds is hoping to raise a similar amount this year.

It's $150 per golfer, and you can register by emailing info@mciblues.net . You can find more details by clicking here.
