The Pembina Manitou Community Development Corporation has increased its staff.

Travis Long has been hired as economic development officer.

Long says he wanted the job because he grew up in Manitou and strongly believes in working towards the sustainability of the community and inspiring growth where possible.

He says some of his duties include looking after tourism, and expanding on the 55 Plus facility in Manitou.

Long says prior to being hired, he was working for the Town of Manitou, mainly taking part in planning the Pembina Wellness Complex Project.

He says he will still participate in the project on a part time basis.
