Updated at 9:15 p.m. Friday, June 28th - Eyewitnesses have confirmed to PembinaValleyOnline that STARS Air Ambulance did land at the scene. The number of patients transported to hospital is not available at this time, nor is the number of individuals in each of the vehicles involved or their condition.

The collision is reported to have occurred around 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

According to eyewitness accounts shared with PembinaValleyOnline, it appeared a southbound vehicle on PR 306 attempted to pass a semi when it collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. It's reported one, or possibly both of the vehicles, side swiped the semi and the trailer it was hauling. Eyewitnesses also indicated the semi was able to stay within its lane and come to a stop.

police vehicle blocks highwayLate Friday afternoon, Altona Police Service had a vehicle blocking PR 306 south of the collision

Late Friday afternoon emergency crews including Plum Coulee Fire Department, Altona/Rhineland Emergency Services, Altona Police, EMS and RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision south of Plum Coulee on Provincial Road 306.

Reports indicate it was a two vehicle, head-on collision.

Detours were put in place, and remained in place early Friday evening.

STARS was called out to the scene, but PembinaValleyOnline has not confirmed if the air ambulance actually landed at the site.
