The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association is opposed to a plebiscite deciding the future of the Canadian Wheat Board.

President Cherilyn Jolly-Nagel feels the at issue is the fact a plebiscite goes against individual rights and freedoms.

She adds the idea farmers need to collectively decide how to market their grain is an old way of thinking, and we have to move away from that.

Many Wheat Board supporters feel a plebiscite is necessary in order to decide the fate of the board.

The federal Conservative government has suggested it wouldn't be.
