A rural home located about a mile and a half northwest of the junction of Highways 3 and 14, in the R.M. of Stanley, sustained significant damage in a Friday afternoon fire. Winkler Fire Department was called out at 4:18 p.m.

Chief Richard Paetzold says when crews arrived, they found the residence fully involved in flames. Multiple water lines were deployed to protect exposures, initially.

There was one occupant at home at the time of the blaze, and they escaped without injury.

The cause remains under investigation, with the assistance of the Office of the Fire Commissioner.

No damage estimate is available at this time.
