58% of cereal growers on the Prairies feel government and other organization do not have enough sufficient input to make a decision on the role of the Canadian Wheat Board.

That from an Ipsos-Reid poll released this Wednesday.

Growers in Manitoba at 62% and Saskatchewan at 64% are more likely than their counterparts in Alberta at 45% to say more farmer consultation is needed.

The poll also asked producers, all things considered, if they support the C.W.B.

52% strongly supported the single desk, while 14% strongly opposed it.

Support for the Board appears to be strongest in our province at 79% overall support, and weakest in Alberta at 58%.

Opposition to the Wheat Board is highest among those reporting sales of more than $250,000 with 21% strongly opposed.

With a sample of 600, the results are considered accurate to within plus or minus 4 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
