South Central Cancer Resource will receive a sizable cheque from last week's SMILE Cookie campaign in Carman.

This is the third in a row that the owners of Carman Tim Horton's, Jeff and Linda Doerksen paired up with South Central Cancer Resource (SCCR).

South Central Cancer Resource is fully funded by fundraising and donations.

"We support cancer patients with financial and travel support in several ways, and the demand for our services has been increasing yearly. So, it's essential, all of the fundraisers we do, including this one, help us to maintain all our programs," said SCCR Finance Chair Jack Pethybridge.

South Central Cancer Resource will receive over $ 10 thousand from last week's SMILE Cookie campaign.

"It was a tremendous campaign, we had such good support from our community."

"We appreciate the support from Tim Horton's. It's been three years now, and every year it's increased. Working with Jeff and Linda and their staff is just exceptional, and we look forward to continuing it into the future."

Just short of 6,000 SMILE Cookies were decorated in Carman, thanks to some "cookie match sponsors" by numerous Carman businesses. Pethybridge says that drove the dollar amount fundraised up. "I can't believe how many businesses supported us, and how great our community support is."

This year's amount raised for SCCR in Carman is up from last year's impressive total of $6,800.
