This is Family Physician Week in Canada.
It is a time when the public and the RHA acknowledge the efforts of family doctors.
Dr. Denis Fortier is the chief of staff with the Central RHA.
He says family doctors in the central region perform so much primary and acute care that he views them as the quarter backs of the team.
Fortier adds Family Doctor Week was originally practiced in the United States until a few Canadian medical colleges picked it up.
