Utilizing the internet as a marketing tool, despite the hard work involved, has been a good experience for B2 Cattle Company near Austin.

In 2004 Laurelly Beswitherick and her husband began selling their freezer beef through a website as a means to increase on farm income.

She notes there was a huge learning curve at the outset.

Beswitherick adds their website definitely generates sales, but it's also created a level of interest which may lead to even more sales.

Her one piece of advice to those considering launching a direct farm marketing business is be aware of the time commitment necessary.

She adds with a young family it's been difficult to juggle everything, but at the same time it's allowed the entire family to become more involved with the farm.
