Two weekends of fundraising ahead for Legends Car Club and South Central Cancer Resource. Don Bergen from Legends and Dianne Mestdagh from SCCR joined the morning show to encourage the community to participate.

Saturday, May 18th Legends is hosting BBQ and Car Show event at Janzen's Chevrolet in Winkler from 10-2. All cars are welcome if you want to be a part of the car show, the rest of the community is invited to grab a hotdog and support South Central Cancer Resource.

The following weekend Legends Car Club is hosting their annual Drive for Cancer event. Bergen says they've supported SCCR for many years now.

"I've been involved with them since 2008 doing all that kind of stuff, but we looked at the numbers last year and I think it's somewhere around a quarter of a million dollars that we have raised for South Central Cancer Resource over the years"

South Central Cancer Resource runs various programs and operates in a large area of Southern Manitoba. Their largest scale effort being their transportation program. Mestdagh broke down some of the numbers, starting with a total of 4196 rides in the previous year costing SCCR over $202k in paid out mileage to volunteers and clients.

"For those clients who are unable to get themselves to appointments, we have volunteer drivers. We have volunteer driver coordinators in a number of our communities that will organize rides and we have drivers who will pick people up, deliver them to their appointments, and get them back home again."

Saturday, May 25th Legends Car Club is inviting everyone to come along for the ride for their annual Drive for Cancer. Classic cars are not required, anyone in any vehicle can participate. The convoy will be leaving from Altona between 9:30 and 10 and driving around Southern Manitoba.
