Officials are looking at the changes to driver education positively.

Rene Leclair is a local driving instructor.

He says the new changes will involve more commitment from parents and students.

Leclair says parents will have to keep a log of time supervising the child at the wheel and will have to attend one Drivers Ed. class.

Leclair adds although the changes mean more work for instructors it will be worth it.

He says maybe there will be fewer teenagers getting into fatal accidents and will be playing a more defensive role.

The changes take place September 1st.
