With a slow down in growth in the North American market, McCain Foods is turning its attention abroad.


In 2004 the company began construction of a $43 million french fry processing facility in north east China, and just last year plans were announced for an $18 million potato processing plant in India.


Canadian operations President Fred Schaeffer says if you look at the global marketplace, it's quite clear developing markets are where growth is.


As for the domestic market, schaeffer is bullish, but forsees several trends impacting growth in the future.


Those include the aging population, and health and wellness concerns.
