The City of Morden is again preparing to open the suncatch area for community events.

Mayor Nancy Penner says the area will be open from June 10th to August 19th.

The plaza is located between Appelt's Diamonds and the iconic clock tower building on 8th Street. Penner says it will be an inviting place to come into and enjoy many community events.

"Our summers are so beautiful and if we can get out in the evenings, or at noon hour if there's a fundraising hot dog lunch, why not go and sit and visit with a friend? I think that's just a great community-building event."

As for parking, Penner says they have established a cooperative deal with the Anglican Church to use their parking venue.

The Suncatch Plaza will also be defined as a more inviting space this year, noted Penner. She said they are bringing in some red metal picnic tables, and black planters for flowers.

Penner says the Farmers Market will also have the same "footprint" of space for their weekly market.
