The following update was submitted by the Municipality of Rhineland Friday afternoon
Drainage
Most of the provincial drains and municipal ditches are dropping fairly quickly.
The Pembina River continues to be at major flood stage at Neche North Dakota and is expected to remain high for at least the next week. Rhineland crews and Manitoba Infrastructure continue to monitor the situation along the international border
Aux Marias drain and its tributaries are currently rising, as flood water from the Pembina River makes it way in the drainage system
The Gretna Ring Dike was closed by Manitoba Infrastructure due to high water. The Port of Entry at Gretna is closed.
Crews are working to repair culvert washouts at a variety of locations
Roads
The majority of roads in the Municipality are now passable
Water is still going over the low levels crossing at number of locations in Rhineland
Municipal roads are soft, please be cautious when travelling within Rhineland
Sand bagging sites
A new self serve sand bag site has been established at 2145 Road 4E (Halbstadt Community Center)
A limited number of pre-made sand bags are still available for pickup at the 227 10 Ave NW in Altona (Altona Curling Club parking)
The self serve sand bag site continues to be available in Plum Coulee at 215 Railway Ave
Environment Canada has issued a Rain Fall Warning for the Municipality of Rhineland. Please ensure that you take precautions to protect your property against overland flooding and high water levels.
The Virtual Municipal Emergency Operations Center continues to be open at least until Monday May 2nd.
