The environmental assessment of Olywest's proposed hog processing facility to be built in Winnipeg was released yesterday.

Earth Tech conducted the study, and found the plant poses no environmental risk to residents.

Spokesperson John Donetz says concerns over wastewater treatment, traffic, and odour have all been adressed.

Olywest spokesperson Guy Baudry says with the assessment phase of the project closed, the group will now submit a licensing application to Manitoba Conservation.

That will officially kickstart the clean environment commission hearing process.

Baudry expects that phase will take 5 to 6 months to complete.
