Our friends at the Neubergthal Heritage site are hoping to see you at a couple of events happening later this week. Events Coordinator Kimberly Sawatzky stopped by CFAM Radio 950 morning Monday to talk to Co-Host Chris Sumner about Thursday’s (November 23rd) Poetry open mic night and Saturday’s village market.

"This event used to happen in the past, and then I had Maxine Penner contact me about having it again," shared Sawatzky on why they chose to bring back the event. "We decided on a Thursday evening we'd go for it. You can share your original poetry, or short stories, and read them to a group in a nice cozy place in the schoolhouse on the grounds. Then we'll have dessert and beverages after, and we'll discuss the beauty of the written word."

The Poetry and Prose Open Mic Night begins Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

And happening Saturday, with doors opening at 10 a.m., the Village Market inside the Neubergthal Commons barn.

"We're going to have antiques, art, prints, crafts, baked goods like cookies, bread, cinnamon rolls and buns," she noted, as she reflect on the focus of the market being on local makers. "I wanted some from the village and just nearby, I thought. It's really good to get the word out that these people around here create such awesome things."

It's free entry to the Village Market, and coffee, tea and hot cocoa will be available, too.

"We'll have some tables set up, so you can sit and drink your coffee and try your snacks, it will be just a nice, relaxed atmosphere."
