Manitoba RCMP have provided more information regarding the discovery of a deceased person in Emerson over the weekend.
According to police, officers were notified of the 48-year-old man inside a home on 2nd Street at around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening. He was a resident of the home.
RCMP Major Crime Services investigators were called in and quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety. The victim and the suspect were known to each other.
On Sunday, Ryan Wiens, a 28-year-old from Steinbach was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. He was remanded into custody with a court appearance in Winnipeg on Monday.
