Employees of Red River Mutual in Altona took the streets to raise awareness and funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. This was the second year the insurance company participated in the Heart and Stroke Big Bike fundraiser.

Spokesperson Audrey Froese says they had 25 riders consisting of family members and employees from Prairie Insurance and B.S.I. Loewen. She adds they raised $3,291, down about $700 from last year. Froese notes Red River wanted to hold the event again because everyone knows someone who has dealt with heart and stroke complications and they wanted to help.

Meanwhile, she says Red River raised $1,000 for the Empty Stocking Fund in a Wear Your Jeans to Work fundraiser and is currently holding a food drive with proceeds going to the Rhineland and Area Food Bank.
