With the celebration of a milestone, people are reflecting on past forty years of the Morden Corn and Apple Festival.

Catherine Evenson's father Wally Vick was the manager of the local cannery and on the chamber of commerce.

She says they were looking for a way to increase tourism and business in the area.

They thought what better way than to promote local products - apples, corn and butter.

Evenson says she can recall the first festival.

She says just two streets were blocked off and business people dressed in old time fashions.

Evenson says it's been interesting to watch the even change and evolve over the years.

Meanwhile, Evenson has volunteered at each of the festivals since it started in 1966.

She says as a resident of the community, it's her responsibility to be involved in the event.
