The Miller Aces, Carman Cougars and Morden Thunder were winners in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League Wednesday night. Reece Fehr scored the go-ahead goal with 58 seconds left as the Aces shaded Garden Valley 3-2. Braison Penner and Griffin Hildebrand also scored for Miller. Alex Wiebe and Ketema Wall replied for the Zodiacs. Grant Friesen had two goals and an assist as Carman slipped past Pembina 4-3. Dane Bergen and Griffin Carnelley had the other Cougars goals. Carter Leslie, Easton Lounsbury and Brad Sloane did the goal scoring for the Tigers. Connor Olson scored twice as Morden edged Morris 3-2. Carter Dyck also scored for the defending champion Thunder. Cedric Gosselin and Tyson Wiebe replied for the Mavericks.


Trent Penner had a goal and an assist as the Winkler Flyers defeated the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 5-2. Nich McKee, Spencer Shugrue, Noah Diemer and Zach Nicolas also scored for the visiting Flyers. Winkler's Liam Ernst stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced. The Flyers led 1-0 and 4-2 at the period breaks. 


Bryson Yaschyshyn made 31 saves in the Pembina Valley Hawks 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Bruins in Morden. Sam Delaquis, Adrien McIntosh, Jaxon Hildebrand and Cohen Pilkington did the goal scoring for the Hawks who have won five of their last seven games. 


Joey Sutherland and Jayson Brooks scored two minutes apart early in the second period as the Portage Islanders downed the Red River Wild 4-1 at Stride Place in the lone SEMHL game. Robby Moar and Tanner Lesann also scored for the Islanders. Justin Baudry had the lone goal for the Wild.


The Winnipeg Jets begin their four-game road trip tonight in Denver as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets had two wins and two losses during their recently completed four-game homestand. 


Scott Milanovich is the new head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He guided the Toronto Argonauts to a Grey Cup title in 2012. The Montreal Alouettes extended the contract of Grey Cup MVP quarterback Cody Fajardo through the 2025 season.
