The Zone 4 badminton varsity regionals take place today at Northlands Parkway and Portage Collegiate. The top four in singles, doubles and mixed doubles advance to the Zone final Thursday at Sanford Collegiate. The Provincial High School Badminton Championships take place May 2nd-4th at Sport Manitoba in downtown Winnipeg. 


The Winkler Flyers meet the defending Manitoba Junior Hockey League champion Steinbach Pistons tonight (7 p.m.)  in game three of the best-of-seven Turnbull Cup final at the Niverville Recreation Centre. The Flyers, who have won five straight road playoff games, lead the series two games to none after beating the Pistons 2-1 and 3-1 this past weekend.


The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League champion Brandon Wheat Kings lost their Telus Cup preliminary round opener 5-1 to the Quebec champion Cantonniers de Magog on Monday in Membertou, Nova Scotia. Brady Turko had the lone goal for the Wheat Kings who face the host Sydney Rush today at 5 p.m.


The Winnipeg Jets meet the Colorado Avalanche tonight (8:30 p.m.) at Canada Life Centre. The Jets lead the NHL's best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal series 1-0 after outscoring the Avalanche 7-6 on Sunday night. Winnipeg is 3-2 in Stanley Cup playoff series when winning the first game. 


The Manitoba Moose begin their Calder Cup playoff run tonight when they take on the Texas Stars in Cedar Park in game one of their best-of-three Central Division opening round series. The Moose enter the series with four consecutive wins against the Stars while outscoring their opposition 25-9. 


Kadriana Lott & Colton Lott have a 5-0 round robin record at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Oestersund, Sweden. The Manitoba and Canadian champions beat Jiyoon Kim & Byeongjin Jeong of South Korea 6-4 Monday and then downed Scotland’s Sophie Jackson & Duncan McFadzean 12-5 Tuesday morning. Lott & Lott will meet Isabella Wrana & Rasmus Wrana of Sweden at 11 a.m. in a battle of unbeaten teams.
