The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost their exhibition opener 25-12 to the Saskatchewan Roughridgers on Monday afternoon in Regina. Winnipeg's lone touchdown came with 2:22 left in the fourth quarter when Terry Wilson connected with Kevens Clercius on an eight-yard scoring pass. The Bombers missed the two-point convert. Winnipeg kicker Sergio Castillo was good on field goal attempts from 26 and 53 yards out. Wilson, Chris Streveler and Eric Barriere combined to complete 20-of-30 passes for 203 yards. The Riders defence recorded five sacks and two interceptions. The Blue Bombers play their final pre-season game Friday, May 31st at home against the Calgary Stampeders.


Canada will play its final preliminary round game today (9:20 a.m.) against host Czechia at the 2024 World Men's Hockey Championship in Prague. Canada will clinch first place in Group A with a regulation win or an overtime or shootout win or loss. Canada has 17 points; Czechia has 15 and Switzerland has 14 points.


Game two of the Professional Women's Hockey League's best-of-five Walter Cup final is set for tonight in Lowell, Massachusetts as Boston hosts Minnesota. Boston leads the series 1-0 after beating Minnesota 4-3 on Sunday. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes play their home-opener tonight (6:30 p.m.) at Blue Cross Park against the Chicago Dogs. Colton Eastman (1-1, 2.70 ERA) will start for Winnipeg. The Fish went 3-7 on their season opening 10-road trip against the Cleburne Railroaders and defending American Association champion Kansas City Monarchs.
