The Northlands Parkway Nighthawks have earned a wildcard spot in the Provincial High School Fastpitch Championship this weekend in Ile des Chenes. The Nighthawks defeated the Thunder 10-3 in Morden on Monday. The Sanford Sabres won the Zone 4 championship banner last week in Portage la Prairie. 


The Morden Thunder dropped an 11-10 decision to La Broquerie’s Ecole St. Joachim in their wildcard game in Ile des Chenes. The Braves qualify for the Provincial High School Baseball Championship which begins Thursday in Glenboro & Baldur. The Garden Valley Zodiacs captured the Zone 4 championship banner last week in Altona. 


The Zone 4 High School Track & Field Championships begin this afternoon at Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler.  


Central Energy is in first place in the Manitoba Premier Softball League's U15 Division with a 9-3 record. Energy defeated the Manitoba Thunder 14-3 & 9-3 on Saturday and then split a doubleheader with swept a doubleheader with the Winnipeg Lightning on Sunday. Central won the opener 8-1 and lost the second game 9-4. Central Energy split a pair of doubleheaders are 6-6 in the U13 Division. Energy lost 13-5 to Eastman and then beat the Wildcats 11-6 on Saturday. On Sunday Central lost 11-4 to Interlake and then beat the Phillies 8-7. Central Energy won three of four games in the U17 Division and own a 7-3 record. Energy lost 4-1 to Eastman and then beat the Wildcats 7-2. Central swept Interlake 9-2 & 12-10. 


Casey O'Brien and Logan Speers scored two goals each as the Morden Eagles defeated Sturgeon Heights Community Club 7-1 in the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association's U17 Girls Division. 


Brandon's Zach Whitecloud, Oakbank's Brett Howden along with Winnipeg's Mark Stone and Keegan Kolesar and the rest of the Vegas Golden Knights are NHL Western Conference champions. William Karlsson had two goals and an assist and Adin Hill made 23 saves as Vegas blanked Dallas 6-0 and took the best of seven Conference final in six games. The Golden Knights will meet the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup final which begins Saturday in Las Vegas. 


After a day off, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers return to the practice field today. The Bombers, who defeated the Edmonton Elks 25-23 on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium, play their final exhibition game Friday night against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at IG Field. Today's practice session is from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
