Moose Jaw Warriors defenseman Denton Mateychuk of Dominion City, Wenatchee Wild forward Conor Geekie of Strathclair and Brandon Wheat Kings foward Nate Danielson are among 30 players invited to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp which begins December 10th in Oakville, Ontario. The 2024 World Juniors will take place December 26th - January 5th in Gothenburgh, Sweden. 


Carson Bjarnason stopped 23 of 25 shots in the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 victory over the Red Deer Rebels at Westoba Place. Nate Danielson scored twice and Roger McQueen had two assists for the Wheat Kings who are 2-0 on their eight-game homestand. Nolan Flamand, Brett Hyland, and Luke Shipley also scored for Brandon. The game was tied 2-2 after the first period. The Wheat Kings led 5-2 after 40 minutes. 


Malachi Klassen of the Winkler Flyers is the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Goaltender of the Month for November. The 20-year-old Winkler native went 5-1 in the month. Klassen turned aside 115/125 shots against in six games while earning one shutout in a key win over their division rival Niverville Nighthawks. Klassen sits 2nd in goals against average (1.74), 7th in save percentage (0.918), and 4th in wins (9). 


Captain Christine Sinclair helped Canada's national women's soccer team to a 1-0 exhibition win over Australia in her international swansong Tuesday night in front of more than 48-thousand fans in Vancouver. The 40-year-old from Burnaby, who set up the winning goal, gave way to 35-year-old Sophie Schmidt of Abbotsford in the 58th minute, marking the end of an international career that produced a record 190 goals.
