The two remaining N.D.P. leadership candidates have two weeks to solidify their delegate support for the October 17th leadership convention.

Only Greg Selinger and Steve Ashton remain after Andrew swan bowed out of the race earlier this week.

Deputy Premier and Agriculture Minister Rosann Wowchuk says the party will emerge united, no matter who becomes party leader.

She says no matter what candidate members back, everyone has the same goal, to have a strong united party heading into the next provincial election.

Wowchuk believes party membership will be stronger than ever after the leadership convention later this month.

She says outgoing Premier Gary Doer will leave many legacies, including being able to keep Manitoba stable and steady during the economic downturn.

Meanwhile, Progressive Conservative Leader Hugh McFayden is looking forward to the next with either Ashton or Selinger at the N.D.P. helm.

He feels they are both considerably further left on the political spectrum, and believes either would move the province in that direction.

McFayden feels right now the N.D.P. leadership race has come down to who can line up the most support from special interest groups, unions in particular.

He thinks the process is not very democratic, and the people who will ultimately choose the next Premier are not reflective of Manitoba as a whole.
