55 students from across the country, including 10 from Manitoba, will share in $82,500 awarded through Monsanto Canada's 2006 Opportunity Scholarship Program.


Each of the winners will receive a $1,500 scholarship to assist with tuition costs during their first year of post-secondary education in agricultural sciences or forestry.


Some of the recipients include Lorne Boundy of Arborg, Becky Elskamp of Woodlands, Bryce Pallister of Portage, Isabelle Parent of Winnipeg, Brent Penner of Oak Bluff, Monica Schott of Warren, and Michael Van den Bossche of Bruxelles.


Since the Opportunity Program was established, Monsanto Canada has awarded more than $800,000 to hundreds of students.
