Friday afternoon Winkler Fire Department was called out to a shop fire in Schanzenfeld. The call came in at 3:25 p.m.

Chief Richard Paetzold says when firefighters arrived they found the shop was fully involved.

"A defensive attack was taken as the quickly deteriorating conditions, combined with the hazards present in the building, made it impossible to enter at that point," he explained.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Even though temperatures were around -16 at the time crews were battling the blaze, Paetzold noted there were no out of the ordinary challenges related to the cold.

No damage estimate is available, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
