Winkler Mayor Neil Schmidt will not be seeking a third term as mayor.

He has decided not to run in the October municipal election.

Schmidt has been mayor for 8 years and another 6 years as a councilor.

He says the development of the industrial parks, the new library, and the P.W. Enns Centennial Concert Hall are just some of the highlights of his political career.

Municipal elections for mayor and all 6 council positions will be held in October.
