A food drive earlier this month helped out the Altona-Rhineland Area Food Bank.

As part of Farm Credit Canada's Drive Away Hunger campaign, Altona area youth gathered 4,200 pounds of nonperishable food items for the bank.

Dave Sawatzky says with an increase in clientele, the donations were timely.

Through the food drive the shelves were filled, and will help them get through until Christmas.

Sawatzky would like to thank the youth for their participation, and the community for their support during the food drive.

Cash donations can be made throughout the year, and food donations can be made at IGA or Co-op foodstore.
