The summer of 2006 was good to the Oakview Golf Club at Gretna.

The club rang up a profit of $40,000 this past golf season thanks to a significant increase in the number of green fees and cart rentals.

Memberships were up about 5% and the club's debt has been reduced to $113,000.

Next year's projects include fairway improvements on holes 3 through 7, fence construction along holes 7 and 8 and more paved cart paths.

Oakview President Keith Stoesz says the club is also searching for a new superintendent to take over from Eddy Martens who has retired.

Stoesz says the executive will also initiate a study to determine the feasability of expanding the course to 18 holes.
