The Manitoba government has just approved a new grant for Borderland School Division.
The division applied for an intensive newcomer support grant and will receive $5000 to help immigrant students made the educational transition.
CEO Don Wiebe says they will be starting up a homework club for the Grade 6-12 students to receive help and support.
The club will have a certified teacher who has an appreciation for other cultures and the required learning.
Wiebe adds the rest of the money will be spent on resources, supplies and location of the program.
The club will host a parent night once a month to keep the parents informed and in touch.
Wiebe says although he will be leaving before the next year, he hopes his replacement will run hard with it.
