The Chronic Disease Prevention Initiative has been approved by the province for the communities of Winkler, Altona, and Amaranth/Sandy Bay First Nation.
The C.D.P.I. is designed to fight chronic diseases and major causes of illness and death.
According to Central R.H.A. Regional Program Leader Jane Curtis, the C.D.P.I. is not the only program in place to create healthier communities.
The province is continuing it's "Creating Community Well-Being Together" program which is similar to the C.D.P.I.
The C.D.P.I. and the "Creating Community Well-Being Together" programs will encourage communities to develop their own healthy living initiatives.
