Winkler Fire Department responded to an early morning fire Thursday at the Maple Leaf Feed mill on Centennial Street. The call came in shortly before 3 a.m.
Chief Richard Paetzold says when firefighters arrived, employees were attempting to extinguish the fire by using extinguishers and a small hose line. He noted crews extinguished the flames, but were careful with their actions in order to minimize the dust explosion hazard.
The fire damage was isolated to the processing area involved.
There were no injuries in the incident.
The cause remains under investigation.
