2023 was a year filled with highly anticipated projects for Gateway Resources in Winkler. These highlights and more were showcased at the organization's recent annual general meeting.

The sod was turned on the 2-0-4 Main Street facility, which brings together Gateway's senior activity and its supported independent living (SIL) programs. Two new accessible group homes went up in the North Point development, and a roof renovation was completed at the Pembina Avenue location.

"And so, now we're just looking at moving people in and having them open," said CEO Kim Nelson.

"Everyone is very excited, and it's a great time to be involved in all of those aspects."

Nelson explained, all of these projects just enhance all of the services that Gateway supports.

"2-0-4 Main Street allows us to have a bigger seniors space and to increase our capacity in our supported independent living program. The two group homes just allows us to continue to support individuals in the community and of course, roof maintenance is always important so that our buildings maintain their longevity."

Coming out of these projects, Nelson says the organization's focus moving forward will zero-in on ensuring its services are top-quality and continuing to build community relationships and partnerships.

"The support we get from the community is fantastic, and we just want to say how grateful we are for that and to continue to those opportunities," she said.

Gateway Resources currently supports 190 adult living with intellectual disabilities throughout all of its services.
