Summer is in full swing with the arrival of Canada Day.  For those looking to celebrate, there is no shortage of events on the horizon.  

Winkler

In Winkler, the festivities run from at 12-11pm on July 1st, with organizers already making the decision to move all events and activities indoors with the rainy forecast.  

Also, Winkler's fireworks have been postponed due to the weather, with a new date to be announced in the future.

Culture Fest performances and vendors will begin/open at 12 and take place inside the P.W. Enns Concert Hall. 

There is also plenty for kids to do at the Co-op Kids Zone, happening in the Bernhard Thiessen Hall at the Meridian Exhibition Centre. There will be bouncy houses, a petting zoo and, from 2-4, a princess meet & greet accompanied by free glitter tattoos and cotton candy from 2-6.  

The main Canada Day program and opening ceremony has been relocated to the PW Enns Concert Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature The Quonset Brothers, with The Seven Pines opening.

Morden

Due to weather conditions, all events related to the Canada Day Beach Blast at Lake Minnewasta have been postponed until July 6th, this includes the fireworks spectacular.

The city has released the schedule for next week's events, and you can find those details in the social media post below.

 

Altona

Due to the weather conditions, the Town of Altona has made multiple changes to its Canada Day schedule:

Food trucks will be located on the arena ice surface along with inflatables, petting zoo, photo booth and kiddie carnival.

Tamiya car demonstration will be in the Millennium Exhibition Centre (MEC) lobby.

Free watermelon and Rollchuken and cupcakes will be served in the MEC lobby at the original time.

Tonight’s entertainment featuring the Pylons and Nick of Time, and Queen Quest intros, will take place in the Rhineland Pioneer Centre. The fireworks have been postponed to Saturday, July 27th.

The Scavenger Hunt is postponed for today, the Altona Recreation Department will have Scavenger Hunt cards ready at the Altona Recreation Office and Altona Aquatic Centre for pickup and participants will have until Monday, July 8th to return their card to the Altona Recreation Department. The winner will be announced later that week.

Bike Decorating contest and parade: If you have already decorated your bike, trike, or scooter, send them a photo via email to recreation.office@altona.ca to be entered to win a prize. Please have those submissions in by 9:00am on Wednesday, July 3rd.

 

Carman

Carman will have a free public swim from 12:30-3pm. 

 

Morris

Morris’ festivities are a go for July 1st, but there have been some changes to accommodate for the weather. Bounce Houses, Glitter Tattoos, and A Magical Show and Face Painting with The Lollipop Fairy plus much more will now be moved to the North and south halls of the Morris Multiplex. The fireworks have been postponed to a future date, and the concert featuring Uncorked has been cancelled.

 

Emerson

In Emerson, Canada Day will begin with a pancake breakfast from 8:30-10:30am.  

There will be a Slo-Pitch tournament, a parade at 11, a cornhole tournament, and a mini parade with prizes and a candy scramble for the children.  

The music acts for the day will be the Nic Messner Fiddle/Guitar Duo (2-3), Nick of Time (4-6), and Revenge of the 80s Band (8:30-11).  

Emerson will end their celebration with fireworks at dusk.
