Today we had Chris Derksen and Christine Elias of the Pembina Counselling Centre (PCC) join us in studio to learn about their comedy fundraiser on Thursday. Both Chris commented on the significant growth of the PCC over the last 5 years that he's been there.

"We went from 3 counsellors in 2019, to now 8 counsellors. It's just extraordinary to have seen the growth at our centre. We added a new location in Altona and we're seeing an average of about 120 people a week. We have over 5,000 appointments this year, so it's overwhelming."

Since the PCC is a not-for-profit counselling centre they are grateful for every dollar, and every dollar goes towards helping those in the Pembina Valley who are struggling.

"Close to 50 people of that 120 access our sliding fee scale, meaning they can't afford the full freight of counselling, so we subsidize that so that they can come. And one of our mission statements, or mandates, is that money is never a barrier to people getting the help that they need."

Reserve your spot today and enjoy Phil Callaway April 18th, 7 p.m. at the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, all while supporting the work of the Pembina Counselling Centre.
