An incident Saturday evening in Winkler had Police looking for an injured female with a reported head injury.

On Saturday around 8 pm, Winkler police were notified of a collision involving a boulder in the parking lot of a business on Diamond Drive, and an injured female who bleeding.

The Winkler Fire Department was called to the scene first but could not locate a vehicle.

A witness shared with police they saw a pickup truck turn into the parking lot, and hit the boulder. A female passenger then got out of the vehicle with a head injury and ran towards him, asking the witness to call 911. However, the female returned to the truck and drove westbound on Highway 14.

Police located the pickup truck at the Boundary Trails Health Centre, where the driver returned to the pickup truck and told police he pulled into the parking lot and did not see the boulder because it was in his blind spot.

Meanwhile, the injured female was located inside the hospital, where she told officers she tripped on a rock and hit her head.

She would not provide police with any further details.

An open can of alcohol was found inside the cab of the truck. The driver provided a breath sample on a roadside screening device, registering a zero reading.

The pickup truck was unregistered, and the driver was told to leave it in the parking lot until it was registered.
