Residents in the Pembina Valley who want to apply for a passport can now save themselves a trip to Winnipeg.

The Service Canada Centre in Morden has opened a passport site to assist with the process.

Mavis Campbell of Service Canada says the Morden site will help address the huge demand for passports in rural Manitoba.

The passport site in Morden reviews all applications, collects the fee and all original identification documents,  and then forwards them to Passport Canada for review and processing.
