Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend and Addison Kartusch of St. Charles have the lead after round one of the Provincial Junior Men's and Provincial Junior Women's Golf Championships at the St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg. Kuntz was five-under par 67 and is two shots ahead of Grady Chuback of St. Charles. Kartusch was four-over par 76 and is one shot ahead of Cala Korman of Killarney. There are five Carman golfers competing at St. Charles. Ryan Orchard opened with a 10-over par 82, Ben Chornomydz and India Young were 84, Keira Krahn was 88 and Reid North was 97. Bijan Salimi of Morden was 93.


Team Manitoba will face Nova Scotia today at the 2022 Football Canada Cup in Kelowna. Manitoba lost its opening game 36-0 to Ontario on Monday. 


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have placed receiver Brendan O'Leary-Orange on the six-game injured list. The Toronto native was hurt in the first half of Winnipeg's 43-22 victory over the B.C. Lions last Saturday in Vancouver and did not return to the game. The Blue Bombers added two players to the practice roster on Tuesday - American linebacker Brian Cole, who was most recently with the Edmonton Elks and was a seventh-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 and Winnipeg Rifles receiver Luke McMillan. The 5-0 Bombers face the 4-0 Calgary Stampeders Friday at IG Field. 


The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with goaltender David Rittich on a one-year contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $900,000. Rittich, 29, played 17 games for the Nashville Predators last season and had a 6-3-4 record with a 3.57 goals-against  average and a .886 save percentage. The Jets also signed forward Kevin Stenlund to a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $750,000. Stenlund, 25, played three games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2021-22. The Stockholm, native also played 42 games for their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, and recorded 25 points.
