Federal Justice Minister Vic Toews was one of the guest speakers at the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police conference this year.

Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak says one area of importance was the inclusion of police chiefs in decisions or changes to the legal system.

He says they feel this is important as they are the foundation of the system and the ones implementing the laws established.

Neduzak says they also talked about changes they would like to see regarding the amount of time spent in court by police officers.

He says more preparation and communication between all parties involved.

Neduzak says in the end, this would help reduce the backlog of cases in the court system.
