There has been some headway in establishing the Rhineland, Altona, Plum Coulee, Gretna Planning District.

Interim Chair Don Wiebe says the district was approved by the Province earlier this month.

He notes there a several things that need to be done before the planning district can take effect.

They are developing a set of operational by-laws and procedures, requests for proposals to create a new development plan, and looking at a pilot project through Manitoba Agriculture.

Wiebe notes instead of having four separate plans, there will be one economic development plan for the district know as the R.P.G.A.

The planning district will take effect January 1st, 2010.
