The Rhineland Empty Stocking Fund is hoping you will consider supporting its efforts to provide gift cards and toys for families in need this Christmas in the Altona and Rhineland areas.

"The Rhineland Empty Stocking fund is where we can provide a little bit of extra help during Christmas time," explained  volunteer Ang Dueck. "We do gifts for the kids, and we do food gift cards for the families in need. Last year we did about 190 hampers altogether."

And in order for those hampers to be handed out, again, this year, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to Box 2255, Altona, R0G 0B0 or dropped off at Pembina Valley Pharmacy or Access Credit Union in Altona, Gretna, Plum Coulee.

Now is also the time to submit referrals for families to receive a hamper.

"If you want to refer someone to get a hamper, we have a brand new phone number. It is 431-342-0525," said Dueck. "You can refer them anytime between now and December 8th, which is our cutoff. You can also e-mail Rhinelandesf@gmail.com , if you would like to refer online."

She noted, at this point, additional volunteers are not needed for deliveries. Those deliveries are scheduled for December 16th between 9am and noon.
