Welcome to another Made in Manitoba, and this weekend we have a lot of people joining us as we connect with the group Sultans of String, and several of the collaborators, on the album "Walking Through The Fire".

Released last September by the three-time Juno nominated group, the effort is a musical response to the Truth and Reconciliation committee's 94 calls to action. The 14 songs each feature an Indigenous performer, and the styles vary with each one, with the artists working together to show a path forward. The goal is for deeper sharing and understanding, with music being the common ground to help cultures connect and understand each other.

Joining us for tonight's Made in Manitoba are Sultans of String band leader and founder Chris McKhool as well as bass player Drew Birston. Also part of the conversation are two of the collaborators, Marc Merilainen and Elder Shannon Thunderbird.

Sultans of String has several connections to Manitoba including Drew Birston being from Winnipeg originally, and collaborator Marc Merilainen being born in Lynn Lake.

We're featuring the Sultans of String, and their album "Walking Through The Fire", and you can enjoy it all on Made in Manitoba, below.
