Altona Town Council wants to reduce the speed limit along Highway 30, north of 14th Avenue Northeast.
The intersection at 14th Avenue is being used as a main route for trucks accessing the Bunge Canada plant off Highway 30.
C.A.O. Russ Phillips says council has requested Manitoba Highways reduce the speed in an effort to create a safer situation for motorists.
He notes they have written a letter to the Province to make them aware of the situation.
The intersection is scheduled to be expanded next year as part of a Canada-Manitoba infrastructure project.
The plan is to widen the intersection by adding a turning lane and a passing lane.
