The Mayor of Altona feels the town is well positioned for future growth.

Melvin Klassen made that comment to the local chamber of commerce last night in his annual state of the town address.

Klassen says the town's prospects look bright.

He says the community offers a good quality of life, employment opportunities and a strong economic base.

In 2006 Altona registered $3.2-million in residential construction and $5-million in commercial construction.

The community's population also got a boost with the arrival of 23 immigrant families and 7 refugee families moving to town last year.
