March is U.V Awareness Month.

Focal Point in Morden decided to promote it by holding their first ever Sunwear Show yesterday.

Cara Yuill is a Certified Optometric Assistant and she says its important to wear sunglasses all year long.

Yuill says that people up to the age of 20 experience the most U.V damage to their eyes....so its a good idea to get your children in the habit of wearing sunglasses at a young age.

Yuill comments when buying sunglasses make sure they are labeled either 100% U.V protection or U.V 400...otherwise you may not be protecting against harmful rays.

She says some of the long term effects of not wearing sunglasses are Cataracts, Macular Degeneration and Photokeratitis which is a painful sunburn directly on the eyes.
