Beth Peterson and Jolene Campbell are next at 4-2 while Kristy Watling and Zoe Terrick are 3-3. The top three teams advance to the playoffs.


The Miller Aces, Mountain Mustangs and PCI Trojans were winners in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League Friday night. Tyson Froese scored twice as Miller beat the Pembina Tigers 4-2. Brett Lesage scored the go-ahead goal early in the second period as Mountain shaded Garden Valley 2-1. Ketema Wall had the lone goal for the Zodiacs. Portage Collegiate scored six first period goals en route to a 10-5 victory over the Morris Mavericks. Tyler Huber had a hat trick for the Trojans.


Brody Beauchemin scored twice as the Winkler Flyers edged the Steinbach Pistons 3-2. Dalton Andrew’s power play goal at 14:59 of the third period extended the Flyers lead to 3-0. Malachi Klassen made 35 saves in net for Winkler.


The Pembina Valley Twisters winning streak has reached 13 games. Merek Degraeve scored the go-ahead goal 4:25 into the third period as the Twisters edged the defending Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League champion St. James Canucks 4-3. Kyle Van Deynze had a pair of goals for Pembina Valley. Ryan Orchard had the other Twisters goal.


Acoyen Fehr scored his second goal of the game 3:57 into overtime to lift the Pembina Valley Hawks past the Winnipeg Bruins 2-1 at the Southdale Arena. Pembina Valley’s Bryson Yaschsyshyn made 49 saves.


The Brandon Wheat Kings opened their three-game Alberta road trip with an 8-0 loss to Calgary. The Hitmen led 4-0 and 5-0 at the period breaks.


Natalie Spooner scored both goals and Brandon’s Kristen Campbell made 19 saves in recording the shutout as Toronto blanked New York 2-0 in the lone Professional Women’s Hockey League game. Ste. Anne’s Jocelyne Larocque assisted on Spooner’s second goal of the game 13:14 into the third period. Elm Creek’s Corinne Schroeder stopped 28 shots in net for New York.
